It’s actually been a couple of months since I took these engagement photos of Dan and Ana–they’ve sadly been sitting on my hard drive waiting for me to have a spare moment and write a blog post, and now their wedding is on the horizon so I need to get these up!
The day we took these photos, rain was yet AGAIN threatening to spoil the shoot (sound familiar?), and Ana and I were exchanging lots of text messages about our back up plan. We had a vision of what we wanted, and cloudy skies weren’t part of it. But, after lots of prayers were sent up, we took one last look at the radar and decided to take our chances. We were not to be disappointed. Glowy sunlight is featured all over this downtown Chattanooga session–and I’m sooooo so happy with how they turned out. From Ana’s super awesome floral skirt and bold red lip, to Dan’s look that included a man bun (!!), I loved the fun, happy vibe they put together. These two are so full of love and laughter–and they even totally pulled off the serious, editorial-esque shots Ana wanted to try later on in the shoot. So without further ado, I present to you Dan & Ana–and not to forget–their beloved Charlie!
After we toured around the grounds outside the Tennessee Aquarium, we headed off to the water steps. I’ve been here many times, but it was my first time taking photos here and it was so much fun. We had some ideas for more adventurous photos at the end of the shoot, so keep scrolling to see those later on!
Just because these two are goofy, and this is so Dan.
These two love to dance, so it was only appropriate that we take lots of twirling photos with that awesome skirt of Ana’s.
And now for Dan’s solo shots. He’s a very modest guy, and probably hated having to do these separately from Ana, but I still love how natural they turned out.
Finally, we headed to the river front, where we knew more of that golden sunlight would be waiting for us. Ana had sent me a Pinterest board with some ideas for more serious, editorial photos, but at the beginning of the afternoon, she told me she was afraid they wouldn’t be able to actually do these–she suspected they’d be laughing too much to be serious. Haha. While true that these two spent a majority of the session cracking up, something switched when we got here. Guys, I think you totally nailed it.
And now we’re back to the laughs. And that’s totally perfect.
And now for those water stairs photos I promised. Ana, please don’t kill me for posting this one, but it is just so stinking cute!
And then she gave up on keeping the skirt dry, and they just simply enjoyed walking up the stairs together, hand in hand.
Dan and Ana, we had so much fun taking these photos, didn’t we? You two were simply a pleasure to photograph, and I’m so happy and excited for the beginning of your marriage relationship together. Keep laughing and enjoying each other!
