Planning a wedding gave me so many things to design, and I had so much fun doing it! However, starting a new home has opened my eyes to the possibilities of creating beautiful spaces that I see every day, not just for a one-day event. We spent so much time designing the space for our wedding and planning every last detail for it, so why not take the same care and consideration for the home that we live in?
I’m really starting to realize how much I love decorating our home. It’s a slow process, but for me, I like to stop and think about each unique “space” in our home and explore what exactly is needed and what would help achieve a relaxing, peaceful atmosphere that I would like to spend time in. Typographic art is a great way to tie in your color palette of the room you are decorating.
Our kitchen color palette has evolved as we’ve looking at the space. We have a tiny kitchen!–the smallest I’ve ever had–but we’re really working hard to make it pretty AND functional. Erick does the functional–I do the pretty (you can read more about our DIY adventures on our lifestyle blog). I loved the yellow, gray and white that we were developing, but I realized I wanted a pop of color. Surprisingly, our inspiration came from a set of placemats we found at Target :) but teal was definitely the perfect choice in adding that bright, modern color to our kitchen colors. Here are a couple of typographic prints that were inspired by this new direction… the first one is already on display in our kitchen! The second print features an illustration I made of our very own yellow teapot–one of my favorite items in our kitchen.
We’re also introducing teal into our kitchen behind closed doors–with pantry labels! Stay tuned. Oh, and these prints will be available for purchase very soon in our Etsy shop! We’re almost ready to launch the beginnings of our Home and Wedding collections.
